When you’re a regular passenger in your car, the dashboard lights aren’t the most important thing to look out for.
But if you’re constantly driving, they can become a huge distraction.
Here’s how to turn them off for a whole day.
If you’re in a dark city or a dark highway, just turn the lights off for 10 minutes and the dashboard light will dim.
If it’s dark in your neighborhood, turn the light off for an hour and the dash light will blink once.
The headlights can’t be turned off, and there’s no way to turn on the headlights or turn on your radio while driving.
If the headlights are turned on, they’ll illuminate your dashboard and make you look cool.
But they’re also pretty annoying, and that can cause accidents.
“The more time that you’re driving, the more the headlights will be shining, so it’s just a matter of not turning the headlights on,” said Robert Stumpf, director of traffic safety for the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The lights are not meant to be used in the dark, so don’t turn them on too early.
Turn the lights on for 10 to 15 minutes and then turn them down to 5 to 10 minutes.
The more time you’re behind the wheel, the less likely you are to hit another car.
The only way to avoid accidents is to have a backup plan in case you get a crash.
“If you’re at the wheel of your car and you’re not aware that the lights are on and not turning on the lights, it will be difficult to avoid a crash,” said Michael Lutz, a traffic safety expert with the nonprofit National Safety Council.
The problem isn’t always the headlights.
In fact, it’s a combination of both, Stumpff said.
“It depends on the speed of the vehicle,” he said.
The safest way to change the lights is to turn the headlights off and on for a couple of minutes.
Then turn them back on and turn them up.
But do that slowly, Stamps said.
Turn them on slowly, but not too quickly.
“Once you turn them all off, you don’t want to get into a situation where you’ve got your lights on but they’re not turned on,” he added.
If all else fails, you can always call your local police department to request that they turn off the headlights for you.
